I couldn't be more pleased to have my image selected as the cover for the July/August issue of Southwest Fly Fishing.
This shot was taken in one of my favorite places to explore right near my hometown of Salt Lake City, Utah. Big Cottonwood canyon is home to world class ski resorts, mountain biking, and rock climbing. It isn't nearly as well known for it's fly fishing. However after driving up the canyon many times to shoot skiing or mountain biking i've always looked at this shot as somewhere that could make a fantastic fly fishing shot. After having a friend bail on shooting that evening, I decided to go up the canyon myself to shoot. Taken last July the colors were just about at their peak before stuff started to die off in the canyons. This was shot remotely triggered with Pocket Wizards, giving me the ability to trigger the camera without standing next to it.
